SAIChE Special General Meeting: 4 Mar 2021, 16:00

Changing of SAIChE grades in Constitution

In order to facilitate the collaborative agreement between SAIChE and IChemE, and the mutual recognition of member qualifications, the membership grades of the institution were adjusted to align with that of the IChemE in 2014. For those members that were not registered professional chemical engineers (i.e. registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa, or an accepted equivalent international body), new grades of membership were introduced. These were the Associate Fellow and Associate Member Grades. The Graduate Member grade was also removed. As we have now re-established full activity as a separate organization from the IChemE, it has been proposed that the Associate Fellow and Associate Member Grades be removed. It has been further proposed that the Graduate Member grade be re-introduced. In order to effect these changes to the constitution we have arranged a Special General Meeting, to be held on a virtual platform on the 4th of March 2021, at 16:00

The proposed changes to the membership grades necessitated a delay in the issuing of Subscription Invoices for the current year. These invoices will be issued upon conclusion of the upcoming meeting.

Please contact the office for further information.

Yours sincerely,
David Lokhat
SAIChE President.
