Wesley Lawrence's Poster Presentation was about his research regarding "solar desalination by 3D printed black titanium dioxide and reduced graphene oxide mounted on cellulose nano cubes as the support material" in aim of generating clean water from hypersaline seawater and brackish water by using the abundantly available solar energy thereby contributing to SDG goals 6 and 14.

The study aims for pilot scale implementation in regions of South Africa and other parts of the world where communities are off grid or too remote for conventional desalination technologies. The ever-growing global water shortage requires the development of new and innovative technologies to overcome the water shortage challenge by using less energy intensive and cost-effective methods to generate fresh water from saline water sources.
