Includes various sub-courses such as Motor Designs, Other Mechanical Drives, Power Equations, Static Electricity, Fire and Explosion Risks, Solar Power, and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
This IMPORTANT Course covers an interesting range of topics at a level beneficial to all engineering disciplines and guides the course attendees with lots of basic principles and many design guidelines and checklists.
This information packed course enables those involved in design, projects and plant operations to assess the design requirements of electrical systems at a first level of design for energy saving and then to conclude the full detailed design with specialist electrical engineering consultants in industry.
This course focusses on energy savings and optimization of power usage in all industries. The course also reviews electric motors and related drives and equipment from the perspective of and needs of all professional engineers. The course also addresses strategies of power saving in industry.
There is a presentation of the main power equations of process equipment to enhance power savings. These are an interesting topic and seldom widely applied in industry, primarily of lack of awareness of the economic benefits that can be achieved.
Energy saving checklists are also provided for all the main equipment types such as process mixers, pumps, fans, blowers, compressors and suchlike. An important and interesting sub-course is also provided illustrating variable speed drives (VSDs) as key power optimization equipment.
There is an interesting overview of solar energy also provided in a sub-course with interesting indications of new trends expected to be applied in industry in the near future. The hazards of power as static electricity and lightning are discussed in a sub-section that shows the risks arising of fire and explosions from static electricity.
The final summary is prepared as a series of DESIGN STAGES OR STEPS in a master chart with control checklists and the appropriate design approach. Interesting and unusual case studies are also presented.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
The main objective is to provide engineers with the fundamentals of design for efficient electrical energy usage and thereby to achieve an optimal power usage design.
Economic benefits are achieved through the power savings achieved in the designs concluded.
